During the year 2000, La Silla observatory had a lot of rain and snow. All this precipitation has enabled all the seeds and plants to grow drastically. This phenomena is called "Desierto Florido" (Flowering desert). Lot of flowers, insects and nature showed up starting from September and continuing until late November. Nowadays, most of the flowers are gone but there is a huge plant (Agave or Aloe Vera Americano) next to the hotel that is offering a great spectacle. I took this set of pictures using a Canon reflex camera and a set of lenses ranging from 28mm up to 400mm.

Enjoy and, as always,

All the best, clear skies and shine on !
