Factors that Affect Sleeping
Circadian Rhythm :
The expression of circadian sleep rhythm and awakeness will be affected
by environmental keys, particularly light.
Age:
over 25 years the ability to initiate the sleep at any time will
be diminished.
Pre-sleep Activation:
mainly psychological factors; due date of a commitment, exams, work
crisis, couple problems. Sexual activity. Bad habits such as: working
in bed, click in the bedroom, dinning time.
Use of drugs:
energizers, sedatives, and hypnotics, use of Caffeine-alcohol-tobacco.
Caffeine
Its effect can last between 8 and 12 hours. With three cups
of coffee (300 mg of caffeine), there is an increase in awakeness
and a decrease in the total hours of sleep. Tea has 50mg per 200
ml and cola drinks 75 mg. The consumption higher than 500mg must
be avoided.
Alcohol
To wake up anxious, headache, perspiration by the second half of
sleep with a dosage of:
- scotch 100 ml;
- gin or vodka 150 ml;
- wine 450 ml;
- 1 liter of beer.
The liver metabolizes 30gr of alcohol per hour ( these measures
are within three hours). Metabolization produces liberation of catecolamines.
Tobacco- Nicotine
In low concentrations it produces relaxation, and at high concentrations
it produces colinergic stimulation that heads to excitement.
Caffein-Acohol-Nicotine
Late excitement effect, that affects in a higher degree people of
over 45 years old.
