In response to the COVID-19 outbreak ESO has taken a number of measures to ensure the safety of staff and visitors, including gradually suspending science observations and cancelling public visits and activities. You can find more details in the ESO page “COVID-19 coronavirus measures at ESO“.
APEX has transitioned into a so-called survival mode, with only basic equipments running, and a reduced team taking care of the telescope and the facilities. This is the status since 21 March 2020.
